Security at Rentera

Built to protect property, resident, and payment data.

Rentera is designed with security, access control, and responsible payment handling at the core of the platform. We are an early-stage product, but our architecture is built with the controls property managers expect from business-critical software.

Current safeguards

Security controls built into the platform

Rentera combines application-level permissions, database-level policies, and managed infrastructure to reduce risk and protect customer data.

Multi-tenant architecture

Rentera is designed as a multi-tenant platform where each customer organization is logically separated within the application and database model.

Row-level security

Database-level access policies help ensure users can only access records they are authorized to view or manage.

Encrypted connections

Traffic to and from Rentera is protected using HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit.

Role-based access controls

Access is controlled by user role, organization, and property-level permissions where applicable.

Secure payment architecture

Rentera does not store online banking credentials. Bank linking and ACH payment infrastructure are handled through specialized financial technology providers.

Managed cloud infrastructure

Rentera runs on managed cloud infrastructure rather than self-managed servers, helping support reliability, monitoring, and scalable deployment practices.

Audit-oriented activity tracking

Key operational activity is tracked throughout the platform to support visibility into important account, payment, and maintenance events.

Backups and operational safeguards

Rentera uses managed data infrastructure with backup and recovery capabilities designed to protect business-critical records.

Payments

Bank connections and ACH payments

Rentera uses specialized payment infrastructure so sensitive banking workflows are handled by providers built for financial data and money movement.

  • Bank credentials are not stored by Rentera.
  • Plaid is used for secure bank account connection workflows.
  • Moov is used for ACH money movement infrastructure.
  • Payment-related events are tracked to support operational visibility.

Roadmap

Security roadmap

Rentera is continuing to mature its security program. The items below are planned enhancements and should not be interpreted as completed certifications or guarantees.

Compliance note: Rentera has not yet completed SOC 2 certification or formal third-party penetration testing. These are part of the security roadmap as the platform grows.
  • Multi-factor authentication for administrative users
  • Expanded login and account security alerts
  • Formal third-party penetration testing
  • SOC 2 readiness and compliance roadmap
  • Additional owner and staff permission controls
